Upcoming Meetings

General Meeting:
Our next General Meeting will be on July 18, 2001. The discussion topic will be the Service Expansion Committee report, the Executive Committee elections and the Riders' Survey results. (Location tba.)

All are welcome to attend RESCUE MUNI's Executive and Steering Committee meetings, held monthly (generally on the third Monday of each month) at SPUR (312 Sutter) at 6 p.m. The next meeting is on Monday, June 18.

Committees

We strongly encourage you to attend meetings of one of our committees focusing on issues such as Muni performance, Muni governance, the Muni Metro, and more. To find out more about our committees, please call our Hotline at 415/273-1558 or send us email - and if you have a project you'd like to get going, just propose it to us this way.

Metro Committee: Discuss problems with Muni's late, broken-down, jerky streetcars and recommend solutions. This committee meets at SPUR (312 Sutter, 5th floor) on the first or second Wednesday of each month (email to be sure). Chair: Howard Strassner, email [email protected].

Service Expansion Committee:
This committee has begun considering where Muni should add or reconfigure service. Meetings are held approximately monthly. Chair: Eric Carlson, email [email protected].

Membership Committee: This committee is working on ways to grow RESCUE MUNI's membership beyond our current 500 or so. Meetings are held as needed. Chair: Daniel Murphy, email [email protected].

Bus Service Committee:
This committee met for the first time on June 2, 1998 and began to name Line Coordinators to organize riders on particularly egregious bus lines. (We have already named coordinators for the 14, 48, 22, and others.) Send us email if you ride the bus and would like to help demand accountability for bus performance and develop common-sense ideas for improvement, as the Metro Committee has done.

The Governance and Service Standards Committees have adjourned.

Locations: We generally meet at SPUR (312 Sutter, 5th floor) but occasionally meet at the the Sierra Club (85 Second Street, 3rd floor). Some meetings are held in neighborhood locations. Check our home page for the most accurate information.
